Mini DisplayPort to HDMI

MacBook Pro models have a Mini DisplayPort connector on the left side of the computer, to connect to external displays and projectors. By adding a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI connector, a large screen display can be attached with a single HDMI cable that carries both video and sound.

The 2010 MacBook Pro models have a Mini DisplayPort connector that outputs both video and audio. The sound output option shows up as a selectable choice in the Sound control panel, if using a Moshi Mini DisplayPort to HDMI connector. Not all connectors are equal though. The only other connector that supports audio out from late model MabBook Pro is the Griffin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI connector. The Monoprice Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable only carries video, but not a audio signal. I found the the Monoprice also would lose connectivity, and would have to be unplugged, then plugged in again to work.
